Zwift Racing Score explained: categories, rankings and how to improve
What does your Zwift Racing Score (ZRS) mean? Where can you see it, why does it change and how is it different from ZwiftPower points and eCyclingRank’s independent rider rating? Use this practical guide to understand your score and compare real race performances.
1. What is Zwift Racing Score?
Zwift Racing Score is Zwift’s competition scoring system. It uses a 1–1,000 scale to reflect race performance and help match riders to appropriate racing groups. A score change is not simply a measurement of FTP or raw watts.
Events may use different score brackets, so check the specific event and Zwift’s official Racing Score FAQ. Older A/B/C/D categories, ZRS and independent rankings are distinct concepts.

4. Five ways to improve your Zwift racing performance
- Pick the right event: check score brackets and event rules instead of relying only on older category letters.
- Study the route: flat circuits, climbs and time trials favor different abilities. Explore Zwift routes.
- Train key race moments: starts, accelerations, group positioning and finishing sprints all matter.
- Review several races: finishing position alone does not explain the strength of your opponents or your consistency.
- Measure your trend: revisit your eCR rider profile and compare ratings, records and specialities over multiple events.
eCR context: fewer than five qualifying races is labeled provisional, five to fourteen is in progress and fifteen or more is marked reliable. These labels describe the amount of available data, not athlete verification or the legitimacy of a performance.
5. Why did my rating move?
Different ranking models answer different questions and can use different data. Review the event date, finishers and opponents before drawing conclusions from one score movement. Corrections may also reach Zwift, ZwiftPower and eCyclingRank at different times.
